Meet Dr. Judy Lee, Associate Principal

Have you ever wondered how 8 courses are scheduled each semester for Radnor’s approximate 1,200 students?

Associate Principal Dr. Judy Lee is the one who tackles the “huge puzzle” of class scheduling.

The process starts in December and goes until the schedule is released mid-August. First, she prioritizes the courses students build upon year to year to pursue their passion for learning. Her Mathematics background helps, she said.

“I work hard so the students can take the courses they would like to take. I hate seeing conflicts, and I prioritize those students who have accumulated efforts and time to get to where they are.”

Dr. Lee came to RHS in July 2023 after serving as the Principal of Penn Wood High School in Lansdowne. She was interested in a new challenge where she could use her skills, knowledge, and experiences differently than she had in the past.

In addition to scheduling, she is also in charge of providing professional development opportunities for faculties and staff, to help them make continuous improvement and be lifelong learners. “We work with young people who we have such a big influence on; we have to stay current and provide the most updated research based educational strategies.”

Dr. Lee also works with the “Belonging” committee, which meets regularly in its efforts to make sure that faculty and staff feel heard, seen and valued. “Everyone should have a sense of belonging and connectiveness with each other. Developing professional relationships increase teamwork and collaboration,” she said.

She is also in charge of the data team, which analyzes data, identifies strengths and areas of growth, and provides tools for data-driven instruction. Every two weeks she runs a report to follow up with students who need the most support.

Dr. Lee’s ultimate goal is to help prepare all of Radnor’s students for college or career in future as they become a contributing member of our local and global communities.

Dr. Lee’s Tips for Parents
  • High school students need support and encouragement more than elementary or middle students because their workload is demanding and their social emotional skills are still being developed
  • Students can thrive with open communication and transparency based on trust and respect
  • Make sure they know that no matter what they do, you are there for them
  • There has to be some type of structure and routine built in every day
  • Instead of asking, “How was your day?” ask them questions like, “What was the most exciting part of your day? Was there any part that you were sad or disappointed about? What did you learn that you are excited about?”
  • Provide the students with multiple opportunities to be successful
  • Students sometimes do not know how to get help, but in the Radnor Reader every Sunday look for the Counseling section for opportunities and information
