WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Taste of the World - Dining Out for a Cause

The PTO is partnering with popular restaurants for a Taste of the World Dining out fundraiser select Wednesdays during the month of November. This effort will not only support local businesses but also give families a night off from cooking and raise money for the PTO. The Dining Out days at New Wayne Pizza in September raised over $400 for your PTO! Thank you for the support.

Why not expand your palette and enjoy some additional cuisine from other local partners? Mention RMS and a portion of proceeds will go to the PTO.

Radnor and Lower Merion (LM) will play its 125th football game on Saturday November 6 - a major milestone in the longest-running continuous public high school rivalry in the nation.

So it's time for Spirit Week... be sure your student(s) know how to cheer on the Raptors all week long:

Nominate an Outstanding RMS Teacher!

Excellence in Teaching Award Nominations Now Being Accepted

If any teachers should be nominated - it should be RMS teachers!

Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation in partnership with Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) is accepting nominations for the 2022 Excellence in Teaching Awards. The honor is bestowed upon 20 outstanding and innovative educators, who have made a positive impact through their work and dedication. Recipients of this award receive $1,000 towards classroom expenses and a commemorative keepsake. The recipient’s school also receives a $1,000 grant. A total of $40,000 will be awarded to schools and educators!

Nominations are being accepted online through the December 17, 2021 deadline. Anyone can nominate a deserving teacher—fellow teachers, past and present students, school administrators, family members, and friends. Nominations should be based on teacher performance during the current school year or on cumulative efforts throughout his/her teaching career.

Teachers can be nominated by students, parents, co-workers or supervisors! Nominees must be certified active teachers in good standing that provide direct instruction to students in a classroom setting. Click here to nominate an outstanding teacher today.

Awardees will be honored at the annual FMFCU Foundation Annual Celebration, Thursday, March 31, 2022 and recognized by the Delaware County Daily Times.

Volunteer for STEM Night

The RMS PTO is planning a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Night for RMS students on Dec. 15 from 6-8 p.m. and is looking for local organizations and community members to help support the event by developing and leading sessions for students. Given that many local companies and organizations are currently restricted from participating due to the pandemic, we encourage individual parents and other community members to design and lead their own sessions. Interested individuals are asked to register via this form by Monday, Nov. 1. Learn more. Student registration for STEM Night will open the week of November 29 on a first-come, first-served basis. Prior notice will be provided before the online registration system becomes live.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

New Volunteer Clearance Requirement

If you missed it in the Radnor Reader, the school district just announced a new requirement for volunteer clearances to interact with students - Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination OR a negative test result within 2 days of the volunteer event. You can read more about the updated requirement here.

Almost There!

RMS Families have been amazing! Thank you for your support so far this year. Only 2 months into the school year, and the PTO is over 85% to our $8,000 Family Sponsorship Campaign (FSC) fund-raising goal.

Hopefully you are following RMS PTO on Facebook and Instagram and can see how your generous donations are put to use to help "make a difference in our school community". Since last newsletter, the PTO has offered funds to support:

Spirit Gear for families in need
A thank you breakfast for the bus drivers during Bus Safety Week
Cultural Arts assembly for students happening this month
Ms. Rapino's 8th Grade Hunger Days program

Your continued support will help to provide the community and connection the PTO strives to achieve.

Veterans' Day - Week of November 8

During the week of November 8, the RMS PTO will sponsor several activities to observe Veterans Day: First, our 3rd annual Veterans Day Wall of Honor, featuring tributes by students for those who've served, will be hung in the RMS Lobby. Second, an outdoor Veteran's Day ceremony on Thursday, November 11, at 11:00 am. Select RMS students will participate at the Radnor War Memorial, located across the street from the Middle School. This year's program will feature, among other speakers and performers, the national anthem sung by RMS parent Keturah Duncan and short speeches by RMS students who choose to share their Wall of Honor tributes in person. Beth Connor and Natasha Thomas for hosting "Conversations and Coffee" and a RMS PTO/RHS PTO joint new family social at Lucy Madden’s outdoor patio. We kindly thank the RHS PTO for their support!
Allison Fanelli, Margaret Troncelliti, Tara Bucci, and Brooke McDermott for helping to keep our RMS students healthy and streamlining the flu clinic process. Nearly 275 RMS students received their flu vaccine on Friday, October 15th!

District-Wide News:

Thanksgiving Basket Drive

The 5 RTSD PTOs are joining forces again this year to provide Thanksgiving baskets to families in need in the district. Our goal is to collect 150 baskets each with a gift card to purchase the turkey and other perishable items. Please consider making a donation. Basket and gift card drop-off is Monday, Nov. 15th from 3-7 p.m. in the RMS Bus Loop. Click here for more information and to sign up . Thank you in advance for your participation. Bus Driver Breakfast

Thank you to our PTO volunteers, Chris McNicholas ahd Shannon Frigerio, for organizing the yearly Bus Driver Appreciation Breakfast on Thursday, October 21st. What a great way to celebrate Bus Safety Week!
